Fair in Athens
The specialist pet trade fair Zoophilia will be taking place in Athens
for the sixth time from 17 to 20 September. The exhibition area for the
fair has even had to be extended in view of the strong demand for space,
according to the organisers.
Further growth for Expozoo
Expozoo at the Villepinte exhibition site in northern Paris was able
to expand last year, with more than 300 exhibitors and 15 000 visitors.
The next date and venue for this specialist pet trade fair will be 20 to
22 March on the same location. For years now the French market has been
growing. France has around 28.4 Mio pets (excluding fish), and spending
on pet products currently amounts to approx. $ 565 Mio. The distributive
trade has been characterized during the past two years by the rapid rise
of the big specialist pet stores. At present there are 12 groups operating
approx. 60 outlets, and the trend is upwards. Also playing an important
part in the pet sector in France are garden centres, DIY superstores and
agricultural outlets.
Green Dot for "Biokat's"
Since the second half of 1998, H. von Gimborn GmbH has included its "Biokat's
Naturstreu" cat litter in its membership of the Dual-System Germany
(see our earlier report). All four types of litter, like all the other Gimborn
products, now make their way through the various collection bins to the
Dual-System's sorting plants. The light polythene packaging used for "Biokat's
classic" is separated out in a sequence of processes at the sorting
station, compressed into bales and recycled into other packaging and transport
materials. The packaging of "Biokat's compact", "bianco"
and the all-natural "Biokat's allround" litter consists of paper
which is reprocessed through the normal waste paper collection method.
