New Austrian fair for the general public
Scheduled for 13 to 15 November in the Arena Nova at Wiener Neustadt
is Austria's first "Aquarium" exhibition, which will be open to
the general public and include the sale of products as well. The presentational
framework for manufacturers and the pet trade has been crea-ted to a considerable
extent in collaboration with the Austrian small animal and ecological federations.
It will be possible to demonstrate the diversity involved in keeping an
aquarium or terrarium through displaying as many examples of both as possible
over an exhibition space of approx. 2 900 m2. Special talks on the subjects
of feeding, the causes of certain diseases, sea-water aquariums and many
more topics are intended to con-tribute not only toward im-parting comprehensive
expert knowledge but also to highlighting the correct methods of keeping
different animals.
 
Volker Grafe goes independent
Volker Grafe, former director of the Gimborn Group, started up his own
business on 1 April. Grafe Consults International Management GmbH is the
name of the company through which this seasoned manager intends to offer
to companies and entrepreneurs the experience he has gathered in different
sectors. This is not intended to take the form of a tra-ditional management
con-sultancy, but rather to involve the personal enga-gement of Volker Grafe
him-self over a given period of time. He will look after the daily problems
of management in person. As his first task he will be taking care of and
building up selected foreign markets, and in particular the market in the
USA (v. pet 3/98) for sera, a leading German company in the pet branch.
For a concern in the German hardware industry he will be managing the building
of a production plant, and lined up for him in the drinks sector is a marketing
coope-rative in a certain southern country. However, the pet branch is still
Volker Grafe's secret passion, which is the reason why he will in future
also become involved both personally and financially in future with other
projects in this area. To enable him to organise an efficient link between
Europe and the American continent he has chosen to have two headquarters:
Heinsberg and San Francisco.
 
Four-day Jarditec
The Jarditec and Jardiflor trade fairs will be held on the Paris-Le Bourget
exhibition site from 13 to 16 September. Last year the organisers recorded
approximately 500 exhibitors from 20 different countries and 25 000 visitors.
