Freßnapf trebles warehouse capacity
The Freßnapf franchising concern of Krefeld, Germany, will be increasing
its number of pallet spaces in the Solingen central warehouse from 4.500
to 13.500. The background to this is the decision made by Großkauf
Solingen eG to sell its Groka food stores to Rewa Dortmund with effect from
31 December 1998. As a result, Freßnapf will in future have access
to a total of 13 ramps instead of 4 for incoming and outgoing deliveries.
Within the administrative sphere too, tremendous synergies will result from
being able to run the concern's entire EDP business, merchandise management,
accounts and many central services, even including use of the training premises,
through the facilities that are to be vacated in Solingen and adapt them
fully to suit Freßnapf's requirements.
The future capacity of the Freßnapf warehouse in Solingen will
amount to 13.500 pallet places.
 
Rendezvous for dog groomers
Oster Professional Products and Intergroom International are staging
one of the biggest international dog-grooming events together with Ciseaux
D'Or at La Grande Motte in France from 20 to 22 February 1999. The event
will offer a great number of highlights including three different styling
championships, 15 seminars and demonstrations, a gala dinner and the awarding
of the "Oster European Champion" title.
 
Qualipet continues to expand
Qualipet, the Dietlikon-based Swiss chain of specialist stores, opened
two new branches in Geneva and Spreitenbach at the end of November. Both
stores have at their disposal a retail area of more than 1 500 m 2 . With
these openings Qualipet now operates ten stores in Switzerland. Two further
new openings, one of them in the greater Bern area, are being planned for
next year.
 
Tier '99 in Munich
Around 100.000 visitors are expected at the Tier '99 trade show which
will take place on the former Olympic equestrian site in the Riem district
of Munich from 24 to 27 June. According to the organisers, ITK Messe und
Kongreß GmbH of Munich, "The entire animal kingdom will be on
view." The programme will range from a special horse show to a dog
and catland.
 
3rd Expozoo in Porto
The Portuguese pet trade fair Expozoo will take place in Porto from 11
to 14 November 1999. It will run at the same time as Internutri, the 1st
international trade fair for pet food, and the 3rd Rural Show for world
agriculture.
