2000, Nr. 4, S. 56 News         Success for RCG Nordwest    The home, pet and garden department of the Raiffeisen-Central-Genossenschaft Nordwest, based at Münster, Germany, ended the 1999 financial year with a seven per cent increase in sales over the previous year. What is more, the pet category achieved a sales increase of 10 per cent, amounting to 31 per cent of the central cooperative's total sales of DM 100.2 Mio. The RCG names its successful own-brand policy as one reason for these good results.           Hunter turns 20    The Hunter company, specialists in dog, cat and equestrian articles, is celebrating its 20th birthday in April. The business is active throughout the world, producing more than 4 000 articles in the dog and cat supplies segment including collars and leads of leather or nylon. Production is carried out with the aid of modern machinery, but traditional craft processes are also used. The business, which moved from Lage to Oerlinghausen in 1990, now employs a workforce of approx. 60. Hunter works in close cooperation with specialists including dog breeders, trainers, schools, associations and clubs, as well as the police.       Hunter is one of Germany's leading suppliers of dog products.           New fair in Mexico    Due to take place for the first time in Mexico City in the spring of 2001 is a new exhibition, Pet Fair. The exact date had not been decided before going to press. Renowned manufacturers like Nestlé and Aqua Industrias Pet, the leading supplier of pet products in Mexico, have already agreed to come. This corresponds to an increase of 2 per cent compared with the event held two years ago. The fair organisers explained that more end consumers were present at the previous show because of the grooming championships held there. That was not the case this time. The number of exhibitors was put at 112, also an increase.           Plans for new Fressnapf stores    The German franchise group Fressnapf will continue to expand in April and May.
